Curriculum vitae

Giovanni Dapri is Head of Minimally Invasive General & Oncologic Surgery at Humanitas Gavazzeni & Castelli University Hospital of Bergamo (Italy). He is Professor of General Surgery for the Italian Minister of University & Research. He is Professor of Human Anatomy at University of Mons (Belgium) and Professor of Digestive Surgery at University of Brussels (Belgium). He is Founder & Director of the International School Reduced Scar Laparoscopy (www.isrsl.net). He is Course Chair of the different Laparoscopic Courses: Esophago-Gastric Surgery, Obesity Surgery, Colo-Rectal Surgery and Abdominal Wall Surgery. 

In his academic career, he has edited 5 surgical books, published more than 180 scientific publications and more than 80 book chapters.

During International and National Congresses, he has performed more than 100 laparoscopic procedures in front of the audience in foreign countries and presented more than 490 oral presentations.

He invented in 2008 an instrument set to operate in Single-Incision Laparoscopy, and in 2013 an instrument set to perform the TransAnal Minimally Invasive Surgery.
He operated more than 5500 laparoscopic procedures (more than 1900 by single-incision laparoscopy) and consulted more than 16000 patients.

He is member of the Editorial Board of 59 Scientific Journals; member of Executive Committee of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), member of Scientific Committees of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and member of Scientific Committees of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS).

He is Governor of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Belgian Chapter.

He is Faculty Member of the Courses held at IRCAD (France, Taiwan, Brazil), at LapSurg Insitut (Sao Paulo, Brasil), at MISC-ASIA (Singapore) and at Cuschieri Skills Centre (Dundee, Scotland).
